Nium, a global payments platform, has entered into a strategic partnership with Circle Internet Group to create a settlement network based on the USDC stablecoin. The deal, announced on May 27, aims to combine Nium's existing last-mile payout infrastructure with Circle's digital dollar technology. The goal is to offer institutional clients a faster and more cost-effective way to handle cross-border payments.

By integrating USDC directly into the settlement process, the partnership seeks to reduce the friction and delays common in traditional banking systems. Instead of relying on multiple intermediaries and slow wire transfers, funds can move almost instantly using the stablecoin. Nium's network then handles the final payout in local currencies around the world.

For Circle, the deal expands the real-world use of its USDC token beyond crypto trading into mainstream financial services. For Nium, it adds a modern settlement layer to its existing payment rails. The collaboration is expected to appeal to businesses that need to move large sums across borders without the typical wait times or high fees.
